A shared vision for hospitality in Santa Teresa
We are pleased to share that Hotel Fermata has been recognized among the World’s Top 100 New Hotels of 2026. This selection by Travel and Leisure highlights the most compelling new hotel openings globally, and we are grateful to see this project honored as one of the few representatives from Costa Rica.
This project allowed our team at LOOP Design Studio to focus on the integration between the built environment and the natural landscape of the Nicoya Peninsula. Every choice was guided by the intent to facilitate a meaningful connection between people and the coastal ecosystem.
Design with intention
Hotel Fermata was envisioned as an atmosphere rather than just a destination. Located just steps from La Lora beach in Santa Teresa, the property spans three acres and consists of 35 accommodations. The architectural layout carefully balances private guest rooms and oceanfront casitas with communal spaces that encourage a sense of belonging.
The interiors utilize sand-hued neutral tones and organic textures to mirror the surrounding coastline. By integrating lush vegetation and palms into the site plan, the design ensures that nature remains the central protagonist of the guest experience.
A destination for connection
Travel and Leisure highlights the property as a refined respite for families and travelers seeking a balance between privacy and community. Beyond the architecture, the hotel experience is defined by its Mediterranean-inspired culinary offerings, a dedicated surf school, and wellness facilities designed for restoration.
Being included in the world's top 100 new hotels is a responsibility we receive with humility. This achievement belongs to the collective effort of the consultants, builders, and visionaries who worked together to bring Fermata to life.
